WANTED: One Male Actor for Bark Park!
Bark Park
A Comedy from Two Perspectives
Written and Directed by Jim Dalglish
Jennifer Kangas, associate director
We've cast almost all of Bark Park — and the actors we've found are wonderful.
There's one role left, and it's one of the best in the show: Mike in Part One, paired with Truman in Part Two.
We're looking for the right male actor to claim it.
Who is Mike?
The self-appointed Mayor of the Strawberry Fields dog run. Twenty years a New Yorker. Generous to strangers, quietly private about everything that matters. He's failed at plenty and made peace with most of it — not entirely, though, and that's where the role lives. It's a part with humor, warmth, history, and a real emotional undertow. Readers of the script have called it one of the strongest two-hander roles they've seen in a comedy in years.
Who is Truman?
Tall, commanding, quietly watchful, with soulful eyes and a stoic loyalty to a life he didn't choose. When the wild ones show up on the other side of the fence, Truman has to decide who he actually is. It's a meaty, physical, surprisingly moving role — played by the same actor who takes on Mike.
Awesome Script, Dudes!
Bark Park premiered at Cotuit Center for the Arts in 2014 and was named one of the Cape Cod Times' favorite productions of the year. It's a proven script, a great cast already assembled, and two performance venues this fall. This isn't a role we're scrambling to fill — it's a role we want to cast right, and we haven't found our Mike yet.
