Giving Tuesday at Helltown Players
Every year, Giving Tuesday invites people around the world to pause, reflect, and support the organizations that bring meaning, creativity, and connection into their communities. For all of us at Helltown Players, it’s a moment to celebrate what we’ve built so far—and to share where we’re headed.
Our mission has always been clear: to produce plays written by playwrights with meaningful connections to Cape Cod. What began as a small collective of artists has quickly grown into a vibrant hub for new work, local talent, and theatrical exploration up and down the Cape.
What We’ve Accomplished Together
In just 2½ years, Helltown Players has:
Produced 15 new plays by Cape Cod–affiliated playwrights
Collaborated with 15 theatres, museums, arts organizations, and small businesses across the region
Performed in traditional venues and in unexpected spaces not often used for theatre
Created a platform for actors, designers, directors, technicians, and storytellers who live and work on the Cape
These achievements are not the result of large budgets or lavish infrastructure. They’re the result of passion, scrappiness, collaboration—and the unwavering support of our community.
How We Operate: Scrappy, Efficient, and Artist-Focused
Helltown Players has always been a lean, resourceful company. We don’t have a permanent venue, which means we rely on agreements with other organizations to bring our performances to their stages (and sometimes their galleries, museums, classrooms, or meeting halls).
This model challenges us to be creative and flexible, but it also allows us to:
Produce high-quality theatre economically
Tour new plays across the Cape, from Cotuit to Provincetown
Pay our artists a stipend, no matter the scale of the project
Bring new work to audiences that might not otherwise see live theatre
We are proud of the work we do—and deeply grateful for the community that makes it possible.
Where Your Support Goes
As a touring company, we’re always adapting spaces to theatrical use. That means transporting equipment, renting rehearsal rooms, negotiating venue agreements, and building each production from the ground up.
Your Giving Tuesday contributions help us:
Pay local actors, directors, designers, and technicians
Rent and transform performance spaces
Upgrade essential touring equipment—lights, sound gear, cabling, software, and other tools that help us craft a professional experience wherever the show travels
Develop new plays and support the playwrights behind them
Every dollar truly makes a difference in our ability to bring Cape Cod stories to the communities that inspired them.
Looking Ahead: New Plays, New Voices, New Opportunities
We’re excited to share that in 2026, we’ll be bringing back our short-play festival with New Little Devils, featuring world-premiere plays by Cape Cod–affiliated playwrights. Last year’s More Little Devils was a joyful, sold-out celebration of local voices—and we're thrilled to build on that success.
We’re also developing new full-length productions for the spring and summer, which we’ll be announcing in the months ahead.
And for those who want to strengthen their own craft, we’re launching Instinct & Structure: The Helltown Playwriting Workshop this winter—a four-month hybrid course that blends actor-based exploration with powerful tools of dramatic structure.
It’s a rare opportunity to dig deeply into the playwriting process with hands-on support, both online and in person.

Instinct & Structure: The Helltown Playwriting Workshop
This winter we launch Instinct & Structure, a four-month hybrid intensive that brings together actor-based exploration and the craft of dramatic structure. With Lynda Sturner teaching in person and Jim Dalglish teaching online, playwrights will deepen their instincts, sharpen their craft, and leave with stronger pages and clearer direction.
If you or someone you know is writing a play—or wants to start—this is a remarkable opportunity.
Thank You
