Submit a Short Play!
Little Devils Returns!
Helltown Players is thrilled to announce the third installment of our beloved short play series: New Little Devils. Building on the success of Little Devils (2024) and More Little Devils (2025), we're taking the series in an exciting new direction this year — every play in the program will be a world premiere.
This is your chance to have your new, unproduced work brought to life on stage.
Colour My World by Melinda Buckley, directed by Judith Partelow with Janet Moore, Bill Jacobs, and Chelsey Brown (More Little Devils - 2025)
Submission Details…
World Premieres Only. This year, we are exclusively seeking plays that have never before received a full production. Plays that have received public workshop script-in-hand readings are welcome. Plays performed script-in-hand as part of a 24-hour play festival are also eligible. Any play that received a fully memorized production — no matter how small or informal — is not eligible.
Length. Each play must be no longer than 20 minutes to perform. Ideally, we are looking for plays between 10 and 15 minutes.
Cape Cod Affiliation Required. To submit, you must have some connection to Cape Cod — whether you live here year round, have a weekend or summer home, or work on the Cape. Please tell us about your affiliation in your submission.
One submission per playwright.
What we're looking for. Comedies, tragedies, and everything in between. Plays will be selected to fill out a satisfying evening of theatre — works that complement one another. We are looking for well-rounded plays, not skits.
Convergence written & directed by Bill Jacobs, with Jonathan Rodman, John Hanright, and Wil Moser (More Little Devils - 2025)
Format…
Please submit your script in PDF format. Include your bio and play blurb in your submission.
Please follow the Dramatists Guild guidelines for your scripts: Dramatists Guild Guidelines
Rolando by Wendy Watson, directed by Florence Heller with Leanne McLaughlin, and Jimmy C. Jules (More Little Devils - 2025)
Compensation…
Playwrights whose plays have been accepted for production will receive a royalty of $100 for the use of their play for the run of the show. All playwrights will retain the rights of their plays.
Deadlines…
We will be accepting submissions through March 31. Submission forms are below.
Notification of selection will follow by the end of May.
Production…
Helltown Players will present New Little Devils at the Black Box Theatre at Cotuit Center for the Arts in October.
Additional venues and dates to follow this leg of production are being finalized — check back here for updates. (Please reach out to us if you have a performance venue we can use!)
Plays will be selected by the end of May. Auditions will commence in June with rehearsals starting at the end of August.
The Little Devils Legacy…
New Little Devils builds on three years of short play magic on Cape Cod.
Little Devils (2024) introduced six original short plays by Helltown Players members, performing at the Provincetown Theater and the Academy of Performing Arts in Orleans.
More Little Devils (2025) opened the series to playwrights from across Cape Cod, bringing the show to three venues: Cape Rep Theatre in Brewster, the Academy of Performing Arts in Orleans, and The Pilgrim House in Provincetown — with ASL interpretation offered at select performances.
We can't wait to see what Cape Cod's playwrights bring us next.
